PROJECT 1

Sketching analysis

Project task & overview

The history of architecture traces back to the pre-historic civilizations where such simple structures are developed into the modern day architectures. Traditions, regions, styles and dates influences architecture. Along the span from the early civilization till now, many historical buildings have been demolished to bring in more contemporary buildings. Therefore, through documenting and analyzing these buildings, this project aims to bring knowledge of such architectures through research, sketching and documenting into an A4 booklet. 5 historical architecture buildings are chosen, each from different era (Prehistoric, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Rome, Middle Ages and Renaissance, Age of Enlightenment)

Reflection

In this project, I've learnt that architecture evolved from more on human's need to wants along the history. Cultures, religions, geographical factors, politics. These factors greatly influences the architecture of a building. Through sketching analysis, I was able to efficiently learn and identify the significant threads in different eras of architecture and how each elements have their own unique definition to the civilization of that era or to the people.
