PROJECT 1

Deconstructing Visuality - Disability experience pavillion

Project task & overview

Exploring a variety of material poetics in relation to user experience. A disabilities experience pavilion offers exploration on the notion of addressing universal accessibility and the curation of spatial experience for physically disabled users

Design intention

Various forms, of simple architectural language to differentiate the materials and trigger a significiant sensory perception to identify and explore the physical properties of a material, not just in colours or shapes, but in texture, smell, sound and etc. The intention is create a safe space without the need for caution, which includes, keeping the guide cane away.

In each different ‘tunnel’, a specific material is chosen and the user will use his/her sensorial perception to interact with the structure and in each case, produces a different spatial experience. Circulation is kept straight-forward, linear arrangement and single entrance and exit direction to minimize confusions.
